Abstract:
Effects of Dimethoate Pesticide and Bacilar Bio-fertilizer on Some Blood Biochemical Parameters of Common Carp (Cyprinus carpio) Abstract Dimethoate pesticide and bacilar bio-fertilizer are two common inputs widely used in Iranian agriculture which washed by run-off and transmitted to aquatic ecosystems where they can cause biological and physiological problems for aquatic organisms. The objective of this research was to study the combined effects of dimethoate pesticide and bacilar bio-fertilizer on blood biochemical parameters of common carp. To this end, 270 fish were selected and allocated into 9 treatment including: control group, treatment A (0.016 mg/L pesticide), treatment B (0.032 mg/L pesticide), treatment C (0.1 ml/L fertilizer), treatment D (0.2 ml/L fertilizer) and combined treatments AC, AD, BC, BD, in triplicate. Fish were exposed to different concentration of dimethoate pesticide and bacilar fertilizer for 14 days. The blood biochemical parameters including Triglyceride (TG), Cholesterol, Glucose, Protein, Albumin, and Globulin were measured. The amount of TG in treatments A, C and D showed significant increment in comparison with control group. The amount of Cholesterol in treatments A and B had been increased in comparison with control group but in treatment AD had been decreased. The amount of Glucose showed no significant differences in all treated groups in comparison with control group. Protein had been increased in treatments C, D and other combined treatments except AC. The amount of Albumin in all treatments except A had significantly increased. The amount of Globulin in all treatments except B did not have any significant differences with control group. The results of this study revealed that combined treatment of dimethoate and bacilar bio-fertilizer did not showed remarkable differences from their singular treatments and more research with higher concentrations of pollutants are required for better understanding of their interactional effects. Key words: Agricultural pollutants, organophosphate pesticides, physiological parameters, fishes

Effects of Sub-Lethal Toxicity of Paraquat on Blood Biochemical Parameters of Common Carp, Cyprinus carpio (Linnaeus, 1758)
Background: Paraquat is a non-selective contact herbicide, widely used to control weeds in agriculture farms and aquatic plants in surface waters. Paraquat can have adverse effects on the health of aquatic organisms. The aim of this study was to detect the alterations in the blood biochemical parameters of common carp exposed to sub-lethal concentrations of commercial formulations of paraquat. ...
full textEffects of dietary exposure to aflatoxins on some plasma biochemical indices of common carp (Cyprinus carpio)
Aflatoxins are a group of secondary fungal metabolites that occur widely in natural contaminants of many feeds under high humidity and temperature, and are potentially dangerous to fish. Therefore, this study was designed to investigate the effects of aflatoxins on some plasma biochemical indices, as clinical biomarkers, in common carp, Cyprinus carpio. Fish were fed diets contaminated with 0 (...

full textCommon Carp, Cyprinus carpio
The common carp (Cyprinus carpio) belongs to the family Cyprinidae. In nature, carp live in the middle or lower reaches of a river with slow currents, or in marshes. Their habitats are usually weedy areas with a muddy bottom. Carp fry feed on zooplankton such as rotifers and copepods, but as they grow up they become benthic feeders, feeding on animals and other organic material. The cyprinids h...

Distribution ! e common carp [Cyprinus carpio Linnaeus (1758)] has been one of the oldest domesticated species of fi sh for food. Culture of carp in China dates back to at least the 5th century BC, although domestication began much later. ! e European races of carp derived from wild carp of the Danube; the earliest attempts date back to the Roman Empire and spread of Christianity in Europe, fro...
full textEffect of dietary supplementation of Artemisia annua extract on some hematological and serum biochemical parameters of common carp (Cyprinus carpio)
The present study was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary Artemisia annua extract on the hematological and blood serum indexes of common carp (Cyprinus carpio). Fish with average initial weight (90.32± 1.12) were fed diets supplemented with graded levels 0, 0.5, 1 and 1.5 % of extract (T1, T2, T3 and T4) for 60 days. At the end of this period, The results showed that growth rate increa...
